National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA)

Works in partnership to enable the self-determination and aspiration of First Nations communities. The NIAA is an agency within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. The Agency is committed to implementing the Government’s policies and programs to improve the lives of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The NIAA recognises that each community is unique. The team works closely with communities to make sure policies, programs and services address those unique needs.

Achievements

• NIAA has been working with the Coalition of Peaks and other governments to progress commitments under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.
• Indigenous Rangers Program: Supporting 128 ranger groups through 80 organisations, employing approximately 2,000 people.
